There is a person in my network who has been living in Ghana for the past 16 years whom I met last month in relation to property investment in India. Though he is an Indian but he does not own any property in India. He told me that he doesn’t have many close relative here now but he does come every alternate year to India just to be in touch with his roots and show his children what diversity in culture is all about. He mostly stays in some Hotel or at distant relative house which is not very comfortable.
I asked him,’ Why you have never purchased any property here? Do you plan to settle abroad only?’
He told me,’Initially I was busy with the work trying to make the best use of the opportunities in hand. Then few years back when I decided to buy something the prices have rocketed and I doubted it would be great decision investing such huge amount in property where I won’t be staying for next 10 to 15 years. But now my visits have become frequent and I mostly come for holidays with family and just want to relax.’
This is just one story, I am sure there would be so many other people who would be in similar situation. With a sudden spike in price of properties in big cities it raises doubts in putting large sum of money in real estate when you don’t want to live permanently and the price in big cities are not appreciating at such a high rate as it used to be.
Then what is the solution?
Lets try to figure out what is the current market scenario and what NRIs should consider before coming here for investment.
The first and obvious reason why NRI should invest is that you should atleast own some land in your own country especially when you can afford one. It is definitely a moment of pride for NRIs. The other reason for investing in India is that the real estate market all over the world has gone down but in India it will still give you good returns.
Let’s dig a bit more, what does NRI want? There are few points to look at before investing. Given the current scenario it is very important that you don’t invest everything at one place. You should be making small investment. Being an NRI, you won’t be residing here so very important that your investment gives assured rentals and is managed properly by someone. The last but very important aspect is that your investment should appreciate with good rate.
Here is a project which ticks all the above parameters. So it is a must check for all the NRIs looking or considering to put in small investment in their own country. It makes sure you get monthly returns, your property is taken care of in terms of maintenance and there is growth and you have a place where you can come down for a Holiday.
Ekaant – Forest Holiday Homes & Spiritual Center is located in picturesque land of Guhagar and it will be NRI’s investment paradise. It has ‘ekaant’, greenery which soothes your eyes and a relaxing environment. It is just perfect for your Holidays and investment in India.
